It’s not every day you get to meet an Icon. Several days into my stint in Cannes I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of meeting Rossy de Palma, the famous Picasso-come-to-life icon of fashion and Spanish film!
(Rossy de Palma, a muse of Pedro Almodovar and Jean-Paul Gaultier)
She lived up to her reputation in every way. She was full of energy - exuberant and vivacious - She entered the suite in a whirlwind of rapid Spanish and cheek kisses, heading straight for her friends from the Lab Room in Madrid. I was stationed next to the Lab Room and was fortunate to be introduced to Rossy by the lovely Pablo (I miss you Pablo).
Now, let me clear something up. I’m not a believer in the concept of “cool”. For me it is an abstract and relative notion that floats around in the atmosphere and causes too many people too much trouble. But, and here I contradict myself: Rossy is cool. It is undeniable, it is literally palpable in her presence.
I’ll admit it, I was flattered and a little bit speechless (hard to believe for a Cape Breton Girl) when Rossy immediately chose a silver fox ring with garnet eyes from my collection.
(Me with Rossy in Cannes. As you can see I’m thrilled.)
I was graced with some cheek kisses, a photo and then Rossy wore the ring away.
